Financial Aid Getting Started
WHEN TO APPLY
It is important to apply early for financial aid. Our priority date for the Fall semester is May 1 and for the Spring semester is October 1. If you have missed these dates, apply immediately. You must reapply for financial aid every year.
HOW TO APPLY
Follow the steps below to apply for federal and state financial aid:
1. Go to studentaid.gov to create your StudentAid.gov account (username & password). You will use this to log into and sign your FAFSA, complete loan documents and review federal student aid that you've received. Also, if you are a dependent student, at least one parent must create a StudentAid.gov account, as well.

2. Complete your federal financial aid application FAFSA online at studentaid.gov. Our federal school code is 002863.
- Visit Federal Student Aid's YouTube Channel for helpful FAFSA videos
3. If you are a NYS resident apply for NYS TAP by using the link at the end of the FAFSA or go directly to the NYS Student Aid Payment Application by going to tap.hesc.ny.gov/totw/. Our NYS school code is 2042.
- Students from mixed status families are now eligible to apply for NYS financial aid without completing the FAFSA by going to https://www.hesc.ny.gov/altpath. Students may also reach out to the Enrollment Advisement Center to learn more about their options to apply for NYS aid. (Please note: this is not an alternative to FAFSA and students who choose to take this route will not be eligible for federal aid.)
4. Be sure to submit any additional documentation we may request once we receive the results of your FAFSA.
5. Watch your MyCorning email for an email from the Financial Aid Office and complete any additional requirements needed.
