Auto Technician Program
LOOKING TO REPAIR YOUR CAREER PATH?
SUNY Corning Community College’s Automotive Program is (will be, spring 2024ish) ASE Education Foundation accredited. It was developed with regional employers who need to hire qualified automotive technicians. Students who successfully complete the program are ready to enter the workforce immediately, with skills and competencies required to safely service vehicles and work in the automotive repair center environment at an entry level position.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
This 711-hour program (approximately 30 weeks) features a combination of class, hands-on labs, and internships at area employers and is in alignment with ASE Maintenance & Light Repair standards. It offers instruction in:
- Basic vehicle service
- Brakes
- Steering/suspension
- Electrical, multimeters, lab scopes
- Scan tools, code diagnosis
- Electric and hybrid vehicle safety, service, and high voltage batteries
Graduates leave our program having passed the following: Snap on Battery, Multimeter, TPMS, Scan Tool, and tire balancer certifications. Other opportunities include NYSI license, ASE G1, ASE HV safety, SP/2 safety training, and OEM level dealership training available through Subaru and others. Students also complete internship experiences and tours of area automotive repair centers.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for the program, students must: have a high school diploma or GED; have a valid drivers license; attend an information session/interview; and commit to attending all program sessions (daily attendance is mandatory for this program).

Instructor
Jason Kellogg
Jason is our Director of Automotive Technology with over 7 years of experience in
higher
education, 22 years of automotive experience, and is a current ASE Master and GM World
Class Technician. Jason is responsible for the Automotive Certificate Program at our
Corning Community College Airport Corporate Park location focused on hybrid and electric vehicles, along with the support
of area dealerships and service centers. Jason is also an Assistant Professor who will be
teaching the majority of the automotive classes within this program.
