Adult Learners
Why Is Earning an Associate Degree Worth the Time and Expense?
1. As reported by the National Center for Education Statistics "the median earnings of associate’s degree completers were 18 percent higher than the median earnings of high school completers."
2. SUNY CCC offers programs that prepare students for in-demand jobs, e.g., in health sciences, technology, education, and human services.
3. SUNY CCC's master schedule contains many online courses, and flexible degree options include some completely online programs.
4. SUNY CCC has a support for learners: academic (e.g. tutoring, faculty office hours); financial (e.g. as eligible, NYS financial aid, federal financial aid, scholarships); and social (e.g. student life activities, mental health resources).
5. SUNY CCC offers credit for prior learning. Categories of credit for prior learning include college transfer credit, military training, work experience, exams to test knowledge (i.e. CLEP, DSST), and other options.
