Arrival & Check-Out

ARRIVAL TO PERRY HALL

There's plenty to do before your arrival, so plan ahead by viewing our Move-in Ready Checklist, your room assignment information, what to pack, and what to leave at home.

Arrival for fall semester typically occurs the Saturday before classes. Specific arrival information is provided to you with your room assignment the first week of August.

BREAKS

SUNY CCC has 2 break weeks each semester. Take a look at our academic calendar and our important dates.

Perry Hall closes for break the Friday before break week at 5 p.m. Perry reopens on the next Sunday at 12 p.m. Residents are able to request to stay over break by visiting the front desk of Perry 2 weeks prior to the break. Residents must meet certain requirements to be approved to stay. There is no food service available during break weeks.

No students are allowed to remain in Perry Hall when the college is closed for part of Winter Break.

To prepare your room for break, students should complete the following items:

  • Throw out trash
  • Clean bedroom, living room, and bathroom
  • Remove any personal items from the lounge refrigerator
  • Close and lock windows
  • Lower and close blinds
  • Turn off lights

Staff enter all rooms to conduct health and safety checks at closing.

CHECKING OUT OF PERRY

Each student living in Perry Hall is responsible for the condition of his or her assigned room, including the living room and bathroom at the time of check-out. Roommates should develop a plan together for cleaning and returning the room back to its original move-in state. Cleaning supplies are available at the front desk.

At the end of the fall semester, students that are returning to their same spaces do not need to check-out and can leave their items in the rooms. Students that are moving rooms for the spring or not returning to Perry Hall will receive specific instructions on how to check-out.

Perry Hall closes for the spring semester on Commencement day at 5 p.m. All students must move out by that time so that we can prepare for summer housing.

Students will receive a list about how to properly check out of their room at least 2 weeks prior to the end of the semester. Some items on the list are:

  • Cleaning the room, living area, and bathroom
  • Making sure the furniture that was in the room when they moved in is in the room when they move out
  • Returning their room and mailbox key

Physical Plant staff will will review any room and suite damage after Perry Hall closes to determine charges. Damage charges are removed from student security deposits. If a student is returning to Perry Hall for the next fall, or damages exceed the amount of the deposit, those charges will be placed on the student's account.

STORAGE

Perry Hall is limited in storage space, which is not available for student use. The items that a student brings to live in Perry must be stored in the student's room. If a student requests a room change for the spring semester, students must remove all their belongings from the fall room prior to closing.
