Committing to SUNY CCC

The Ann Marie Rossi ’76 award was established to recognize an employee who has shown commitment to CCC. Patricia (Patty) M. (O’Heron) Cordes ’74 has lived and breathed Corning Community College for 42 years.

Patty began her tenure with CCC as a work study student. When she transferred to Elmira College to complete her Bachelor’s degree, she continued to work on an hourly basis at CCC. Her full-time responsibilities evolved over the years, beginning with her service as the Accounts Payable Clerk and ending with her recent retirement as the Bursar. Patty’s love for students kept her on campus all hours of the day and night. She cherished the one-on-one meetings with students and parents and the opportunity to find financial resources for them.

Patty left many marks on the CCC campus. She played a lead role in restructuring the student accounts department, streamlining student refunds, establishing online payment and billing, and determining protocol for students living in Perry Hall. She was a sound voice in college governance. Students were the focus of everything she did.

Along with Patty’s exemplary performance every day, she found time to volunteer for additional College activities, such as the United Way, food drives, and helping the local health ministry and her church.

Patty is a life-long member of the Corning community. She continues to live in the area with her junior high school sweetheart, Terry. She was awarded the Ann Marie Rossi ’76 award in 2017.
