LAS: Humanities/Social Sciences A.S.
The learning in disciplines in this program is excellent preparation for careers in the following areas and professions: communications, media, public relations, law, political science, psychologist, social worker, and college professor in communications, journalism, anthropology, geography, government, history.
There are three program concentrations: humanities, social sciences, and individualized studies.
In choosing between the A.S. and A.A. programs, compare which program requirements best fit with the degree requirements of the four-year programs you are considering for transfer.
LAS: Humanities/Social Sciences A.A.
The A.A. program differs from the A.S. program in requirements in two main areas: languages and mathematics. This program is excellent preparation for careers in the following areas and professions: translator, editor, international relations, psychologist, social worker, and college professor in English, humanities, modern and classical languages, music, philosophy, economics, history, psychology, sociology, and theatre.

Theatre Studies
Theatre Studies at SUNY CCC offers students a unique opportunity to get their first
two years of a Theatre major or minor — that is fully transferable to any SUNY four-year
theatre or communications program — and to most other four-year colleges in the U.S.
SUNY CCC offers a core curriculum in Theatre and Media Studies, with opportunities to study the basics of the theatrical field, acting, playwriting, theatre history, and applied theatre (using theatre in community wellness and counseling), script analysis, film and TV production, and the history of film. Additional advanced opportunities are available in scriptwriting and playwriting, stage management and backstage positions through independent study, and public performance with Rehearsal, Performance, Production lab credits.
Student written and directed productions are encouraged. The Muse of Fire drama club supports full public theatre productions with a variety of activities.
Paid internships at local cultural organizations like The Rockwell Museum and the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes are available to second year students and recent alumni.
