
CCC Announces Recipients of SUNY Chancellor's Awards for 2023
SUNY Corning Community College announced the recipients of the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for 2023. These awards recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional excellence and dedication in their respective fields, making significant contributions to the college community and student success.

Emma Draper-Reich, a Professor in the English Department, received the Faculty Service
Award for her unwavering dedication to her role and remarkable contributions to the
college. As the Chair of the Curriculum Committee, Emma's exceptional leadership and
meticulous attention to detail have greatly benefited the institution. She has also
served as an adviser to the Crier, where she has guided students in creating engaging
content and successfully transitioned the publication to an online format amidst the
challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Emma's commitment to student success is
further exemplified through her role as a Phi Theta Kappa Advisor, providing valuable
guidance and support to students.
Dr. Kamesh Narasimhan, Associate Professor of Chemistry, was recognized with the Chancellor's
Award for Excellence in Teaching for his outstanding work and commitment to providing
a high-quality academic experience. As one of the few chemists on campus, Kamesh's
expertise in Organic Chemistry has greatly impacted students' understanding of the
subject matter. His passion for teaching, clarity, and student-friendly approach has
garnered praise from students and colleagues. Kamesh's dedication to his students
and willingness to participate in various campus and community activities make him
an invaluable asset to SUNY CCC.
Tyre Bush, the Senior Director of Workforce Education & Academic Pathways, received
the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service. Tyre's creative initiatives,
such as the ACE Admits and DegreeTrax programs, have expanded course offerings and
provided structured pathways for high school students. Her dedication to meeting the
needs of students and her commitment to their academic success has resulted in increased
enrollment and improved opportunities at SUNY CCC.
Kelly Beecher was nominated for the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service for her exceptional performance as a Senior Account Clerk. In addition to carrying out her responsibilities with exemplary efficiency, Kelly has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving the college community. Her willingness to go above and beyond in assisting faculty, staff, and students, coupled with her resourcefulness and attention to detail, have made her an invaluable member of the SUNY CCC team.
Tom Sherwood, an Adjunct Instructor who has been actively involved with the college since 1991, has been nominated for the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Adjunct Teaching. Tom's commitment to the mission of SUNY community college and his dedication to providing an exceptional academic experience has made him a deserving nominee for this esteemed award. His support for students, colleagues, and the college community has been outstanding throughout his tenure.
