SUNY CCC Boasts Highest Graduation Rate Among SUNY Community Colleges

July 11, 2024

CORNING, N.Y. -- SUNY Corning Community College possesses the best three-year graduation rate of any of the 29 two-year community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system, according to Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) data.

“We are incredibly proud of this impactful statistic, as it is a true testament to the first half of our mission, which is to empower our students. In addition to providing access to higher education by offering affordable tuition, we are doing everything we can to ensure our students reach their goal of earning a degree,” said Dr. William Mullaney, President of SUNY CCC. “Not only are SUNY CCC students graduating at an outstanding rate, they are also going on to accomplish life-changing results beyond their time at Spencer Hill.”

Cameron Jensen ’24 was recently accepted to Yale University – the first SUNY CCC graduate to do so – and will attend the Ivy League institution on a full academic scholarship. During his time at SUNY CCC, Jensen received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence (CASE) for his outstanding academic achievement. He was one of 40 students from across the country to participate in all three NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program missions.

Jaclyn Liquori, a 2022 graduate, was a non-traditional student who returned to college later in life. She graduated from SUNY CCC Mathematics and Sciences, A.S., and transferred to Cornell University after earning the prestigious Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. Liquori was one of 100 students nationwide to receive the scholarship out of 1,200 applicants.

About IPEDS
IPEDS is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). IPEDS gathers information from every college, university, and technical and vocational institution that participates in the federal student financial aid programs. The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires that institutions that participate in federal student aid programs report data on enrollments, program completions, graduation rates, faculty and staff, finances, institutional prices, and student financial aid.
