College Celebrates 60th Commencement
SUNY Corning Community College will celebrate its 60th Commencement on Saturday, May 18, 2019. The exercises will begin at 11:00 a.m. and are currently scheduled to be held outside, in front of the Commons (1 Academic Dr., Corning, N.Y.). The College will award 584 degrees and certificates this year, including 302 Associate in Science degrees and 245 Associate in Applied Science degrees. The average age of this year's class is 26, the most mature graduates are 64 (we have 2!), and 58% of the class is female. Our graduates hail from 14 counties in New York State, with 40% coming from Steuben, an additional 40% coming from Chemung and 6% coming from Schuyler. Out-of-state students represent 4% of those in the Class of 2019 and include students from India, Nigeria, and South Korea. In addition, the Class of 2019 includes 17 veterans and 29 Presidential Scholars (students who graduated in the top 10% of their high school class and met the requirements to earn an associate degree with no tuition debt).
