Certified Nurse Aide

Arnot Health has teamed up with SUNY Corning Community College to provide Certified Nurse Aides (CNA) and Patient Care Partner training for newly hired employees.

This course prepares the student to work in a healthcare facility as a nursing assistant or care partner. Instruction and practice of basic patient care skills required for Nursing Assistants is provided.

Students learn to meet the physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs of residents/patients.

Skills practiced include patient assistance with personal care, transfers, ambulation, positioning, communication techniques, measuring vital signs and intake and output. The student will practice supervised patient care in a clinical setting prior to completion of the program.

The student must successfully complete all objectives of the course including exams, laboratory skills performance and the clinical experience to be eligible for course completion.

For those participating in the CNA course only,  they are eligible to take the NYS Nurse Aide competency exam to obtain certification.

Tuition for this program is covered by the employer and employees are paid their hourly salary while attending training.  

Patient Care Partners and Certified Nurse Aides are an essential part of the healthcare continuum. The partnership between Corning Community College and Arnot Health will train people in this important role and start their healthcare careers on the right foot.
