SUNY Corning Community College (CCC) and Alfred University (AU) have established the following transfer articulation agreements for the purpose of affording students the opportunity to pre-plan their college careers and facilitate the transfer process from CCC to AU.

Transfer paths include:

Bachelor of Fine Arts: Degree Program

This agreement guarantees admission with full junior standing into the AU's B.F.A degree program to students who:

  1. Graduate from SUNY CCC with the A.S. degree in Fine Arts and Design
  2. Have achieved a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 for all courses taken
  3. Complete the required portfolio submission and receive an acceptable rating on the portfolio rubric. This portfolio submission should include 3 observational drawings and 12 other pieces in any medium

Students who graduate from CCC having taken a minimum of 63 credits from courses listed in Appendix A of this agreement are guaranteed the opportunity to earn the bachelor’s degree with 68 credits of normal coursework through AU. AU will accept all credits required for the SUNY CCC A.S. Fine Arts and Design degree, in transfer, toward fulfillment of requirements for the bachelor’s degree. AU's graduation requirements for this program stipulate that a portion of these credits, to be determined by AU, must be completed in residence on the AU main campus. AU will accept a limit of 75 transfer credits but as described in Appendix A, a minimum of 68 credits must still be completed at AU.

Dual Enrollment in Associate Degree Programs at CCC and Bachelors Degree Programs at AU

Students are guaranteed admission into select B.S. and B.A programs at AU, and also guaranteed full junior status, if they meet the following criteria:

  1. Graduate from CCC with the Associate in Science (A.S.) or Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree;
  2. Have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 for all courses taken that meet the requirements for admission to a specific bachelor’s program; and
  3. Have completed pre-requisite courses for the bachelor’s degree program and achieved a minimum overall grade point average for specific programs as stated in the separate articulations for each program.

Students who enter CCC under this dual enrollment agreement and meet all the stated criteria will be permitted to continue on into the AU program to which they were admitted without any further admissions application procedures. Students who enter CCC under this dual enrollment agreement but fail to meet any of the criteria required to continue into the AU program to which they are admitted will be required to go through the regular transfer admission process to AU, meet the requirements in the transfer articulation for the specific program to which they are applying, and be admitted to the university. In this situation, admission is not guaranteed.

Students who graduate from CCC with an A.S. or A.A degree, having taken the minimum of credits from courses listed in the appendix of the articulation agreement for the specific AU program to which they are applying are guaranteed the opportunity to earn the bachelor’s degree when they complete the total number of credits of normal coursework that are required for completion of the program through AU. The specific number of credits required to complete each program is outlined in the separate articulation agreement for that program.

AU will accept all credits required for the CCC A.S. or A.A. degree, including pre-requisite courses listed in Appendix A of each separate agreement, in transfer, toward fulfillment of requirements for the bachelor’s degree. The minimum number of credits that must be taken through AU is stipulated in the graduation requirements stated in the separate articulation agreement for each program. New York State Education Department regulations stipulate that a portion of these credits, to be determined by AU, must be completed in residence.

CCC graduates who take additional courses through CCC to fulfill the prerequisites for an AU degree completion program or for any other
purpose, may transfer additional credits over and above the number required for the AA or AS degree, up to the AU limit of 75 transfer credits. But the minimum number of credits that must be completed at AU for each program is stipulated in the transfer agreement for that program.

Students who are admitted into bachelor programs at AU under this agreement must complete the minimum number of credits required, even if the combined total number of credits completed at CCC and AU exceeds the minimum number of required credits for the bachelor’s degree.
