Q: When did you begin working at SUNY CCC, and why/how did you end up here?
I began working here as an adjunct a few years ago. I was initially brought on to teach courses in Solidworks for mechanical technology. I was working at Corning Inc as a machine systems engineer before transferring to another company as a machine systems engineer there, so I was only teaching evening classes. I worked until 5-5:30 pm and began teaching from 6-9 pm most weeknights. I went full-time last semester (fall 2022), teaching Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Mechatronics, and cad design courses.

Q: What classes do you teach at SUNY CCC?

  • ENGR Engineering Orientation
  • ENGR Engineering Mechanics I
  • ENGR Engineering Mechanics II
  • MECH Hydraulics and Pneumatics
  • MECH Machine Design/Kinematics
  • CADD Solidworks I
  • CADD Solidworks II
  • ELEC Sensors and Actuators

Q: What's your favorite part about being a faculty member at SUNY CCC?
My favorite part of my career is working in many different subject areas and bringing real-world, practical, and useful Engineering knowledge to my students. I hope students see my enthusiasm for projects, Engineering, and problem-solving, which can inspire them to continue pursuing a career in engineering or technology.

Q: What's been the best part of your professional career?
Working with the students and capturing all the aha! moments with them. I love giving students the freedom to work on what they want or in an area of their interest. I like when they can connect to course material when working on projects and not only learn the material but demonstrate the ability to take their learnings and apply it practically and meaningfully. Working with so many students can be a challenge — I can not possibly teach them everything they need to know, but I hope I can leave them confident enough to attempt any problem they may encounter.

Q: What's one thing most people don't know about you?
I can't whistle… I am an excellent woodcarver and painter. I have carved and crafted realistic wooden birds, instruments, and furniture.

Q: What do you like to do during your free time/time outside of the classroom?
Too much. I prioritize making new course material and other college-related work when I'm not in the classroom. I do many things independently- service my cars, airplanes, and motorcycles. If I need something, I will generally build it myself. I enjoy spending time outdoors and designing/building projects. My hobbies include woodworking, machining, welding, drawing, and more.
