Good Neighbor Plan

01/25/2019

The SUNY Corning Community College Regional Board of Trustees approved the Good Neighbor Plan at its January meeting, excellent news for all students who live outside of New York State. The policy takes effect with the Fall 2019 semester and reduces tuition charges for residents of other states.

“Education is the pathway to social and economic mobility,” said Dr. Katherine P. Douglas, President of SUNY Corning Community College. “It is one of the fundamental components of strong families, vibrant communities, and a functioning democracy. This plan puts not just a SUNY Corning Community College education within reach, but a SUNY education within reach for countless students – students who might otherwise have had no option.”

Rates for the 2019-2020 academic year will be set at the June 2019 Regional Board of Trustees meeting. The decision to adopt the Good Neighbor Plan at the January meeting follows a decision made at the December 2018 Board meeting to enact the Keystone Residential Scholarship, which grants Pennsylvania students who choose to live on-campus a scholarship that reduces tuition to the same rate as that which New York State residents pay.
