5S and Standard Work

5S and Standard Work

5S

5S is a step-by-step approach for workplace organization that is applicable to any work environment, from the factory to the office and the hospital to the college campus. As a first step toward a total Lean transformation or as an effective and inexpensive means of reducing waste, clutter, and stress in the workplace, 5S is a firm foundation for process improvement.

Why this type of training is important to manufacturers:
Safety and productivity are paramount in any type of manufacturing or service environment. 5S is a great and straightforward way to get participants to view their workplaces in a different light and reorganize them to be safer and more efficient. Standard Work arms your management, supervisors and workforce with the mentality and methods to continually improve. Standard Work is not a pack of standard operating procedures; it is the control system that unifies and synchronizes work improvements for the low-cost, best quality and safest possible condition.
