CORNING, N.Y. — Tyler Ladd, Director of Retention & Educational Planning at SUNY Corning Community College, has been selected as a member of the 2026 Fellowship Class for SUNY’s Leadership Institutes. The announcement was made by State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. following the first in-person retreat for fellows, held in Albany.
Twenty-nine fellows from campuses across the SUNY system were selected for the 2026 class. The SUNY Leadership Institutes are made possible through the support of the State of New York and are designed for faculty and administrative professionals who are committed to supporting the success of all students, including those who experience significant barriers to higher education.
“The best part of the fellowship so far has been the space to reflect and grow alongside other leaders who are deeply committed to impact,” said Ladd. “These honest conversations have pushed me to think beyond my current role and view leadership not just as a position, but as a responsibility to create access and belonging.”
SUNY’s Leadership Institutes incorporate the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Leadership Institute, Black Leadership Institute, Disability Support Leadership Institute, and Hispanic Leadership Institute. Fellows are selected based on proven leadership and administrative experience, as well as their dedication to pursuing higher education leadership roles within SUNY.
“One of the most impactful aspects of the fellowship has been learning to lead strategically while staying grounded in purpose,” Ladd said. “The fellowship is helping me sharpen how I think about systems, equity, and long-term change.”
The fellowship will also have a direct impact on SUNY CCC and its students. “This fellowship will help me lead with more clarity and purpose,” Ladd said. “I will gain tools to improve systems, strengthen collaboration across campus, and make decisions that support long term student success.
“For students, it means better support, clearer pathways, and stronger guidance from start to finish. I will be able to design efforts that increase retention, remove barriers, and help students feel seen, valued, and capable of reaching their goals.”
