New Trustees Join Board
The SUNY Corning Community College Regional Board of Trustees recently welcomed two new trustees: Alan Scott Winston a legislative appointee from Chemung County and Stephen Epp, the Student Trustee elected by his peers. Their terms began July 1, 2018.
Winston is First Vice President and Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley in Elmira. N.Y. His career in financial services began nearly four decades ago with First Albany Corporation. He has been with Morgan Stanley since 2009. As a member of SUNY CCC’s board, Winston serves as the Chairman of the College’s External Affairs Committee. He also currently serves as the Chairman of the Chemung County Industrial Development Agency, and he is on the board of trustees for the Clemens Center. He is a Past President of both the Arnot Hospital Foundation Board and the Community Foundation Board. A lifelong resident of Chemung County, Winston earned a Bachelor’s degree from Saint Lawrence University and a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He and his wife, Maria, have a daughter, Molly, and enjoy spending time with their beagle, Gus.
Epp, from Corning, N.Y., is a second-year student at SUNY Corning Community College majoring in Engineering Science. He is a member of a student team that developed the GripM8, an innovative device to assist people who have difficulty gripping items (for example, utensils, pencils, toothbrushes) as part of challenge issued by the New York State Department of Health. As a Trustee, Epp hopes to represent the voice of all students at SUNY CCC. After earning his associate’s degree here, he hopes to transfer to either Clarkson or the University at Buffalo where he will prepare for a career as a computer engineer.
