SUNY Corning Community College’s new Chief Financial Officer, Todd Garnier, is excited to make an immediate, positive impact in multiple areas of the College.
Originally from Rochester, N.Y., Todd is familiar with the SUNY system, working in a variety of financial roles for four years at SUNY Monroe Community College and 10 years at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology).
“I knew the College had a great reputation and the fact that it’s part of the SUNY system really drew me in,” said Todd. “I felt like I had an opportunity to get in here and start helping right away, which was important to me.”
Todd is also a SUNY graduate himself, graduating from SUNY Empire State College before receiving his MBA at St. John Fisher College.
In his short time at SUNY CCC, Todd has enjoyed working with faculty and staff members he calls “a supportive, understanding, and patient group of people.” But most of all, he is excited to meet the students and is looking forward to learning more about the great things they are doing on campus and in the community.
“My favorite part of this role is getting to interact with students regularly,” said Todd. “I’m just excited for them to return to campus here in a couple weeks.”
Todd is also looking forward to learning more about the Corning area.
“The College itself is what drew me in, but I really fell in love with the area as well,” he said. "The Southern Tier is truly a good place to be."
In his spare time, Todd enjoys playing basketball twice a week. He also recently traveled to Palau and Tokyo for his honeymoon and is looking forward to his next trip.
