Earth Day Fest 2013

Earth Day Celebration

Community and College partner to celebrate a sustainable future

Join advocates of Earth Day and a sustainable future at Corning Community College (CCC) on April 28, 2014, from 11:00am to 2:00pm, for the 8th annual Corning Community College Earth Day Fest. More than a dozen environmentally friendly organizations from the community will share advice for enhancing our lives with green alternatives. Live music will be provided by Lori Barrett and Mike Watkins, the D4-Cs, will be performing acoustic selections, as well as two members of the Jaybirds, including CCC graduate John Hazard. The event is free and open to the public.

“This is a one-stop opportunity to discover the many positive and planet-saving options that are available to us in our community,” said Dr. Donna Powers, professor of biology at Corning Community College and co-organizer. “In one afternoon and in one location, you can lean what we’re doing to protect our watershed, how we’re preserving local bird populations and caring for homeless dogs and cats, partnerships between researchers and local farmers, and much more.”

This year’s participants include the following:

  • Spencer Crest Nature Center
  • Flower Lady
  • Leo’s Honey House
  • Chemung Valley Audubon Society
  • Cornell Cooperative Extension
