Maarit S. Clay

Ms. Maarit S. Clay earned a B.A. in Political Science from Middlebury College and an M.A. in English from Binghamton University.

Ms. Clay teaches College Composition I and II (face-to-face and sometimes online), Interpersonal Communications, and Media and Society: Introduction to Mass Communication. She is co-adviser to The Crier, the CCC student newspaper. For Spring 2017 she developed a Collaborative Online International Learning module in her College Composition II class with a Chinese professor teaching English courses at Tianjin University. The title of the eight-week module is “Beyond Borders through Short Stories” and involves international teams of students from each class researching cultural differences and similarities in short stories paired by theme. She creates transparent structure and organization for classes so that expectations are clear. Composition class activities include workshop activities, lectures, videos, and discussions, and communications classes’ activities include PowerPoint presentations, videos, group activities, and discussions.
