Studying our amazing family lines, and why it matters

This hour-long presentation by Maggie Young covers the topics of how world history has influenced our families, the social and scientific benefits and implications of genealogy research, and search strategies on how to undertake your own genealogical investigation.

Maggie Young is the Genealogy and Local History Librarian at the Steele Memorial Library in Elmira, NY.  She graduated summa cum laude from SUNY Fredonia with a B.A. in English literature. She received her MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to being a librarian, she worked as an art teacher and labored on a farm. She believes librarianship is the perfect blend of art and science, and is passionate about all people having access to information and communication.  Her interests also include painting, writing, children, hiking, and gardening.
