Register today for the 17th Annual John Polo 5K Run/Walk sponsored by the Corning Community College (CCC) Intramurals & Recreation program. The event is set for Thursday, May 1, at 7 pm and will begin at the CCC Gymnasium. Registration by April 18 is $12; after April 18 the registration fee will be $18. For more information including family rates, contact Emily Scudder, Intramurals & Recreation Coordinator: 607-962-9529 or email@example.com.
For the first time in many years, the event’s founder, John Polo, will be our guest of honor. A coach and professor at Corning Community College for 27 years, he is an outdoors enthusiast and envisioned this fundraiser as an opportunity for community members to collectively support organizations that do good work. We look forward to his participation in the 2014 race and his help in determining this year’s beneficiary.
All entry fees and any additional donations will be donated to a non-profit organization. In previous years, beneficiaries have included the Ronald McDonald House of Charities and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Onsite registration will be from 6 pm to 6:45 pm in the CCC gymnasium. The first 75 participants registered are guaranteed a t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded for overall male and female runners and walkers as well as first place prizes for the following age categories: 15 and under, 16 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 to 69.
