Teaching
Student success is of utmost importance to me, and I thoroughly enjoy working with students and seeing them succeed. I will make extra time for all of my students and do everything I can to help my students succeed, though it is important to remember that success is earned, not given. In each of my courses, I emphasize critical thinking and practical applications of the material, so that students can draw connections between concepts, across disciplines, and in the real world. My laboratory exercises stress the importance of skill development, building upon previous material, the proper use of the scientific method, and field work. I am a strong believer in the importance of science literacy and the need to combat pseudoscience, as well as the critical role science plays in our everyday lives.
