Designed to help students think creatively and critically about American popular music while learning about its history and the people and institutions that produced it. Special attention given to the interaction of European American, African American, and Latin American traditions. Covering a wide range of popular music styles starting in the 19th century and continuing through the 1990's and beyond. (3 cr. hrs.) (ASN). Prerequisite: Eligible to enroll in ENGL 1010.
