Examines the historical, cultural, philosophical, ethical, and practical foundations influencing education in the United States. The significance of social differences in regard to class, culture, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religion will be examined. Controversial educational issues will be explored and a personal philosophy of education will be formulated. (3 cr. hr.) (ASN) Prerequisite: EDUC 1010, EDUC 2040 and ENGL 1010. Writing in content area. Upper-level course. Intended for education students. 15 hours field observation.
