Anthony M. Smaldone ’19

2026 One-to-Watch Recipient

Anthony M. Smaldone, Ph.D. is a Machine Learning Scientist at Expedition Medicines, where he develops advanced artificial intelligence tools to accelerate drug discovery. He has presented his research at international conferences, received awards for his contributions, led collaborations with industry partners including NVIDIA, Moderna, and Pfizer, and co-founded the Yale Biophysical Society.

A lifelong Southern Tier resident, Anthony began his academic journey at Corning Community College, graduating in 2019 with an Associate in Science degree. During his time at CCC, he served as Student Association Executive Board Treasurer and founded the Debate Club, demonstrating early leadership and initiative. He went on to earn a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Binghamton University in 2022 and completed his doctorate in Theoretical Chemistry at Yale University in 2025 as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow.

Anthony’s research applies cutting-edge computational methods to challenges in drug discovery, helping to bridge artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and practical medical applications.
