ServSafe is a nationally recognized training and certification opportunity designed specifically for food preparation businesses. Employees learn to properly receive, prepare, hold, and serve food following strict sanitation guidelines and best practices. This program prepares employees to pass the national certification exam, which is included.
Each year in the United States there are an estimated 76 million cases of food-borne illness that result in an estimated 5,200 deaths. About 95 percent of all food-borne illnesses are caused by the mishandling of food. Many food-handling practices that cause illness are related to poor temperature control or poor sanitation.
ServSafe is a proactive approach to protect yourself and your customers against food-borne illness. ServSafe addresses potential hazards in the areas of storage, preparation, cleaning and sanitizing, cooking, and personal hygiene. This nationally-respected training program helps reduce the risks and potential liabilities that food services face everyday. Some insurance companies even offer premium incentives for ServSafe certification. ServSafe certifications demonstrate to your patrons that your operation is committed to food safety.
