Diversity Council
The Council strives to elevate diversity and inclusiveness throughout the organization with the purpose to:
- Promote and support campus-wide diversity awareness.
- Plan and implement diversity activities.
- Recommend and promote policies, programs and other initiatives that will attract and retain a diverse mix of faculty, staff and students.
- Examine formal and informal processes and recommend changes that foster greater inclusion.
History
In October 2010, the President appointed a Diversity Council to take a lead role in the development of campus-wide diversity initiatives. The Diversity Council has formulated a diversity vision statement for CCC (above), and is developing activities to enhance the culture of diversity at CCC. Watch for developments and future communications from the Diversity Council in coming months and feel free to contact any member of the Diversity Council with suggestions or comments.

Dimensions of Diversity
Diversity encompasses more than just race and ethnicity. Here are some of the many dimensions of diversity:
- Internal Dimensions: Personality, Race, Age, Gender, Sexual Orientation, Physical & Mental Ability, and Ethnicity
- External Dimensions: Marital Status, Geographic Location, Socio-Economic Status, Communication Style, Personal Habits, Recreational Activities, Language, Religious Beliefs, Educational Background, Personal Style, and Parental Status.
- Organizational Dimensions: Role (Students, Faculty, Administrators & Support Staff), Campus Location, Seniority, Division/Department, Work Experience, Union Affiliation, etc.
