Naming Kenner CourtKenner Court brochure

On August 3, 1999, Corning Community College suffered the monumental loss of one of its best faculty members, coaches, and mentors. Wayne Kenner, professor in the Math, Physics, Technology Division and Men's Basketball coach, joined Corning Community College in 1968. He had a unique ability to reach out to young men from inner-city circles and offer a life without crime, poverty, and anger by playing basketball at CCC with Wayne at the helm. Ten years have since passed, coaches have come and gone, yet Wayne's accomplishments have not faded from memory. He is remembered as a marvelous coach, educator, and gentleman. Many of Wayne's former students and athletes have gone on to become successful professionals who share his determination to "pay it forward."

To formally acknowledge Wayne's tireless devotion and lasting contributions to our College and community, the College launched the Naming of Kenner Court campaign with a goal of $100,000. These funds will allow the Gymnasium on the Spencer Hill campus in Corning, NY, to forever signify Wayne's presence with the placement of his name painted and sealed in front of the very location where his heart was most visible ... the Red Barons' home bench. To date, almost $65,000 has been raised through generous donations by the Kenner family, CCC Senior Barons, and friends.

A court unveiling was held on September 26, 2009 in conjunction with the Kenner Golf Tournament. Photographs of this touching tribute can be found here.
